Vacation - Rhode Island

Our first family vacation is now in the books. We survived! I don't do well with uncertainty and being out of my comfort zone can be a challenge. Don't get me wrong we had a great time visit our wonderful family, Susan and Larry, and they were WONDERFUL hosts. If you know my aunt kids aren't tops on her favorite list but Parker is!! :) Most likely because Parker is so cute and so well behaved!! Above is a collage of a little bit of everything. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and ate dinner on the patio ever night. Everyone helped us with Parker and Poopa especially loved his snuggle time at 5am. Thank you for letting mommy and daddy go back to sleep! Our next trip will be a road trip with no planes involved... I will have a separate post about what mommy learned traveling with a 7 month old... :)

Parker needed a teething toy, we found a carrot! It made for some great pics!
(Ray was a little leary, see his face...)

Parker loved the sand... took him some time to like the 65 degree water! :)

7 months, our big boy!

Time is flying by. Summer is here and we are enjoying every minute!! Parker is now 7 months old and doing so many new things. He is crawling like crazy. He loves making noises with his mouth and he is just funny!! The pictures above were taken in our front yard and this was his first time sitting in the grass. I should have let him try out grass in the the neighbors yard, ours isn't very soft. :)

I have a lot to write about and so little time. I promise to post a video soon of his funny noises! :)

Unsubscribe

How many emails do you get in a day? I get at least 10 emails a day and that's only my personal account (you don't want to know about my work account). If you don't check your email daily it can become overwhelming. These emails with "great" deals were also leading me to buy things I didn't need. I finally decided that instead of just deleting these emails I would "unsubscribe". I used to put my email on everything & that's how I got on so many mailing lists but not anymore. On every store type email or advertising email you can scroll to the bottom & find an "unsubscribe" link/button. Some sites are easier than others but I highly recommend you take the time to stop the emails. It has helped me tremendously! I have less emails, less stupid spending & less stress! :)

Jumperoo

Parker got something new...

YouTube Video

He loves his new jumperoo! He can get a little crazy but all in all, lots of fun.

He went for a check up at the cardiologist and he weights 17lbs! The appointment went well. He does have to stay on his meds until he is a year old & he had to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours. This was the first time that Ray wasn't able to go ( just bad timing) to a dr appt & I will never go alone if I don't have to. I was so stressed that my whole body was tense. Then trying to hold a 17lbs little monster while they try to do an EKG, loads of fun!! My back is still hurting! We will get the test results from the monitor in a few weeks. I will keep you posted! :)

DINC - No longer

Well, for those who don't know what a DINC is .... Double Income No Children. That is what we were. We are no longer. When we wanted something before Parker (BP) we would just go buy it. No second thought. No plan, just go buy it. One, we could leave the house anytime we wanted and two we thought those things would make us happy. We have quickly learned that no longer being a DINC family is a good thing but also a change in mind set.

Our priorities have totally shifted since Parker's arrival. We got lots of advice from other parents but just like each child is different so is each family. We are very blessed that we rotate around Parker. Not in the since that we do everything around him and we don't do our own things. But instead of having to use an outside childcare provider, Parker stays home and we rotate around him. This is saving us a lot of money and is very motivating for all of us. We are very, very lucky to have this option. This cost saving alone is helping us tremendously!

My next topic... coupons... for me they are bad. I save more money not having coupons than I do having them. I am talking about food coupons & store coupons. It's a mind set for me. If I have a coupon I think I need to use it before the expiration date, even if I don't need the item. It's not often that I need to have something, it's always more of a want. I have a handy dandy coupon organizer that I just finished...

I added note cards to divide each section so that I had more room for additional labels. If the coupons I do need aren't organized then I will forget about them. This little organizer is from Target & has a magnetic clasp. I like this one better than the plastic ones with the elastic band. This has helped me keep all of my coupons organized & makes me feel less overwhelmed when out shopping! Until next week... :)

Grace, we love you

On May 28, 2009 our baby girl, Grace, came into this world & went to heaven. If it wasn't for her we might not have Parker. I miss her but I take comfort in knowing that she is in great hands. We are so blessed to have been chosen to be Grace & Parker's parents. We are at peace. We have had the two kids we planned on & we are happy. Make sure you hug your loved ones & tell them how much you love them!!
