Luggage Tag for New Parents

When Parker was born a great friend gave me this luggage tag with a list of items to keep in the diaper bag. As a new parent it can be hard to know and remember everything you should pack. Her story went something like this... took her daughter to the doctor & the nurse said ,"Take off all of her clothes, wrap her in a blanket and bring her to the scale." Well being new parents they didn't have a blanket packed! There daughter was fine but having a list like this might make a new parents day! :)

Food & Memories

Sausage, Potatoes & Green Beans

Growing up we had family friends who's mom would make a recipe similar to this. I think I have it mastered!! Smells can often bring back memories for me. This dish takes me back to fun carefree days playing until the sun went down! I have great memories of eating this dish and today it still makes me smile!! :)

Here is a recipe from All Recipes below is a modification that I use when making this dish:

I wanted to cook indoors, so I preheated the oven to 425. In the meantime, I seared the sausage with some Worcestershire sauce just to seal in the flavor, then added this to a nonstick-sprayed roasting pan and mixed in the potatoes & drizzled with olive oil, Kosher salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder: I often toss in other spices or even a little Mrs. Dash. In the same skillet with the sausage juices, I sauteed the green beans with 4 cloves minced garlic and a bit of olive oil to soften. I then added this to this mixture to the roasting pan and tossed all the ingredients together to coat. Finally, I covered the pan with aluminum foil and baked for 40 minutes, removing the foil for the last 15 minutes, and stirring occasionally.

Warm Winter

Well, we didn't really have a winter this year. These pics were taken in early March 2012. I can't believe how warm it has been. This was Parker's first trip to the park. He didn't like the swings much but he sure loved the slide!! I have a feeling this will be our hang out this summer.

Jessica in Parker's "girlfriend" she loves to come over and play. She has helped me out so much. It's nice to have some extra hands when Ray is at work. She is great girl and very thankful that she is around to help!

Happy SpringSummer Everyone! :)

First trip to Jolly Pirate!

Well, it was a memorable moment, Parker's first trip to Jolly Pirate! The Mehl family are connoisseurs of the best donuts and we have one of the best places in our own back yard. There is nothing better than a fresh long john donut and mommy was needing one this particular evening. We (Daddy, Poopa, Grandma Terry & Parker) packed up and headed down the road. Parker had two donut holes (free of charge, nice lady) and the rest had other yummy filled donuts. We were the crazy ones taking pics and video. We don't care because it's moments like this that we want to capture to treasure for a lifetime!
